I'm also going to be adding a 'functions' page to the Random Code section. All the code I have there is currently full scripts, I thought it would be good to include some of my custom functions as well.

A few things.
This domain is now hosted on my own Fedora server. I have moved a few of my domains in house and this is one of them.
There is a new chunk of Random Code that you should check out. It's nothing real special but a nice way to FTP down a file then email it out.
I am in the process of moving email in house. I don't like relying on a third-party for mail so I am working to configure Postfix to smart host and send emails. If you have trouble with emails, please wait 15 minutes then try again.

Two things...
First, the skins are fixed, for now at least. Though I haven't added to or updated them, it does work. Play with it and see what you think.
Second, I am working to migrate my domains from this server to my own web server. This is something that will not happen overnight nor will it be without it's problems but I believe that this is the way I should go. None of my sites get many hits and it's silly to pay for hosting when I can do it myself. Plus, I have more control over things when the sites reside on my own servers. I'm going to try to ensure that this causes as little downtime as possible but there will be some, I am sure. The move from many databases to a single database has been completed with minimal problems. This was, I believe, the hardest part but I could be wrong.
Additionally, please note that I have taken steps to ensure that none of the CSS pages get cached by your browser. While this shouldn't cause any problems, it's still possible.
Oh, and I am working to overhaul and edit this site (yet again) to provide a more consistent feel and look.

So the Skins broke a number of other things....I have turned them off for the moment. Until I figure out what happened, it will stay this way.

Skins have arrived! Well...sort of. While the code is in place to select a skin, the only two options are the default, and Twilight (which is far from completed). However, despite the shortcomings, this is the first step towards a skinable site. I don't expect it to ever be perfect, but my hope is to make things as usable, customizable, and intuitive as possible. Please bear with me as I work to make this site even better!

A few minor things. Since I don't really want anyone looking at the pictures I put on this site MANY years ago, I have changed the photo link on the left to point to my main picture site. In addition, I have removed the Downloads link as there is nothing there that anyone need see. As I have mentioned, at some point I will be putting up links but until then, I have taken down the page. Finally, I have been converting the various pages over to a database to make for easier management. The links page, quotes page, and soon this page will all be in the database.
In addition, I have been working to merge everything into a single database rather than having multiple databases for this site. There is, and are likely to be, issues with this. I am working as hard as I can to make sure that the disruptions are minimal but I cannot promise anything.

Lots of Updates!! It's been a while since I have put anything here, but that doesn't mean I haven't been busy!!!!
1) All of the CAPTCHAs in use on this site have been changed over to reCAPTCHA as I think this makes it easier for everyone.
2) Email validations have been disabled on the guestbook and contact page. It's really just silly to validate these things.
3) I am working on (though not quite there) at posting a few new code blocks. I have put together a database session require and some other goodies that some of you may want to check out. I am also very close to being able to turn out my hit tracker, I would just like to make it a bit more user-friendly.
4) Many other tweaks (both large and small) have been made to the site. My latest project aims to make this site "skinable" though it's FAR from completed.

I hate SPAM......have I ever mentioned that? I have been getting quite a lot recently, a whole lot. I have no plans to change my email address, WAY to many things are tied to it. I am, however, going to advertise another address that yall are welcome to use. dan [at] danbunyard [dot] com. This is the best way I can think of to let you know. It's not ideal, and still rather annoying to deal with but should cut down on the SPAM I get and also help me determine what's legit.

For the most part, my journal has moved to Dan's Randomness. Using wordpress it's much easier to manage posts. Also, it allows me to extend my topics to require more than just my journal. So check it out and let me know what you think!

Alright, so as of today, very strict rules and protections for hotlinking are going into effect. You know who you are, and if you don't, you will soon enough. I don't care if you use things from this site, if I didn't want you to, it wouldn't be here, but if you are going to at least copy it to your own site. Linking images or CSS files directly off this site (or ANY of my sites) is strictly forbidden!

Not to much to post here, the only thing that I really wanted to mention is that I have a new site for all my pictures. The new site is pictures.danodemano.com and is where I will be posting all my pictures from now on out. I should probably note, that it can be a little slow for some reason. I'm still trying to figure out why.

So I have truly learned the power of StumbleUpon. My journal was stumbled just a little over an hour ago, and since that happened, I have had 154 hits on that page. And they are increasing at a tremendous rate!

Alright, so having FINALLY gotten pissed of with "malicious" spiders for the last time, I have pieced together a nifty little PHP script to auto-ban any spider that doesn't follow the rules set forth in the robots.txt file.
So I suppose that by this point, you are probably asking "ok, so what does this have to do with me?" and the answer is, very little. The only thing that I warn of, is that if you just happen to get into the source, and notice a commented out link to a file called getout.php, you should avoid following it as doing so will result in a permanent ban from this site. Then you will have to send me an embarrassing note asking to be un-banned after you got curious and opened the file. So please, just don't follow the link, alright?

BIG CHANGES!! Alright, well you can't seen them, but I have completely overhauled the code behind this site, and made use of the fact that PHP is dynamic. The size of all the pages has been shrunken considerably, as the common parts have all be consolidated into a single script.
I have also decided to switch over to a standard set of links. Unlike the previous pages, every main page on this site now has the same link set. This make it MUCH easier to change this list should the need arise.
Along with this, I have done some cleanup on the site, removing unneeded code and files, as well as updating the meta tags.
Finally, this was all done with the ultimate goal of actually changing the design of this site. And while I don't know what I'm going to do just yet, this was the first step in getting it done.
On an unrelated note, instead of continuing to post pictures here on this site, most of my pictures will be posted out to my Google album. That is at least until the site is overhauled and I add in a nice photo album :)

I got a few new things here, none of which are of great importance though. Number one, I have moved (yet again) to a new server! Nobody probably even noticed the change, but along with it, I also got the domain name danodemano.net so that was cool!
Second, I have posted another random bit of code out here for all to enjoy! It's a random password generator that lets you pick the complexity, length, number of passwords, etc! Check it out here and see what you think!
Third, I have (once again) fixed the guestbook. I didn't know it was broken until this evening so I quickly fixed the posting and brought it back online, so leave me something!

Big news!!! I have re-worked all the code on this site and made everything validate! You will see the small image under the navigation on the left-hand side, this will take you to the validation results for whatever page you are on. I've spent a LOT of work and time on trying to get everything to be proper!
Please also note, that all the old news items have been moved here to reduce the size of this page!

I have, once again, overhauled the guestbook, this time to make it a bit more, user-friendly. Now, if you enter an incorrect validation string, all the data from your post remains in tact instead of vanishing into nowhere land. Should make things a bit easier and MUCH less frustrating. As many of you have noticed, the site has taken a major overhaul! All the color schemes have been changed, tweaked, or otherwise adjusted. I removed all the pictures from the header and from the right-hand side of the page. I has also been working to clean up the HTML as it's a disaster, to say the least. I cannot take credit for the new color choices, I'm not that creative, Laura came up with the new color scheme. I love you so much hun!!!

After much troubleshooting, testing, coding, and swearing, I have finally managed to get things straightened out with the guestbook!!! Posting has once again been permitted to the Guestbook.
I believe that all the SPAM problems have been eliminated, for good, and shouldn't return. If you have any problems, please let me know!!
I have also, once again, updated the About Me page. I have gone a bit more in depth about myself, my interests, etc. So go and check it out!!!
And finally, I have updated, tweak, fixed, and changed a good number of other pages on this site. Today is the first day in a while that I've actually felt like working on the site.
